About Second Breath
A modern meditation practice for everyday life
Second Breath was created to make meditation feel accessible, practical and relevant for modern life – built on the belief that meditation doesn’t need to feel abstract, difficult or overly spiritual.
Through Second Breath, Sophie Ryden teaches a simple and effortless technique that helps busy modern minds find greater clarity, steadiness and ease – without stepping away from the demands of real life.
The meaning behind Second Breath
“Second breath” often describes the moment when something shifts. After feeling tired, stretched or overwhelmed, energy begins to return. The mind clears. Things start to feel more manageable again.
Second Breath meditation represents that shift. Not by escaping life, but by creating a pause within it – a moment to reset, reconnect and respond differently.
Meet Sophie
Sophie Ryden is the founder of Second Breath. She has maintained a daily meditation practice for over 15 years, having first discovered the technique she teaches today while at university.
It was the first approach to meditation that felt genuinely practical and easy enough to fit into everyday life, and the benefits were immediate enough that she never stopped.
Alongside her practice, Sophie has spent her career in senior PR, brand and marketing leadership roles. She trained as a meditation teacher through 1GiantMind, an international meditation organisation, and brings both formal training and over 15 years of lived experience to her teaching.
Sophie’s approach
Sophie’s teaching style is calm, practical and supportive. She teaches meditation as something that can fit naturally into real life – not as another thing to perfect, but as a practice that helps people relate to their minds and lives with more ease and steadiness.
